Sound Touch App Reviews

What Happened?!?!

We used to love this app. Paid for the full version originally and had full access… now, when we touch the other screens ie exotic animals, or household items it says we now have to pay, again?!?! Mind you we’ve had access to these areas before for years. Second major issue, non functioning language settings. We’re a bilingual household (English, Spanish). I use the app in Spanish, but now that function doesn’t work! I go back to setting, select the language, go back to the app, still English. So disappointing. What happened?!?! Please fix asap

I like soundtouch

Paid for the upgrade but I’m still getting pop ups constantly

I paid for the upgrade yet my baby constantly needs me to come help him because a pop-up comes up asking for us to upgrade every time I purchase it says I’m already subscribed. Very annoying.

What happened?!

I have 5 children, and have used this app for at least 8 years. I paid for the full version because my kids love it so much. But now there are adds? And it was popping up a notification asking for email with long codes on it? What’s going on?!? Why the changes???

Ad???

I paid for the full version so I can get rid of the ads, but now the full version has ads??

My Autistic Daughter Loves It!

This app was one of my autistic daughter’s favorites, but then they got the bright idea to make her have to choose voiceover and language options EVERY TIME she opens the app, with no option to permanently set your choices. Needless to say, she doesn’t understand and is just completely frustrated every time she wants to play. For an app geared towards toddlers, this update makes absolutely no sense. If they ever fix this stupid update, I’ll happily change this to a 5 star review. UPDATE: the developer listened and fixed the issue. I really appreciated that and my daughter is back to loving this app. Thanks!

Diversity needed

I’ve had this app since its arrival on the iPhone. It was one of the few I kept when purging most of my children’s apps when I retired as an early intervention SLP. I just updated today and am stunned by the lack of racial diversity in the images of humans. The past few years have brought a long overdue awareness of the absence of diversity in all media formats. The absence in this otherwise beautiful app is particularly egregious given its audience of young children who benefit from seeing racial and cultural diversity reflected in their media. I hope your next update addresses this dominant culture bias.

Full version has an ad??

We paid six dollars for the full version and it was great, now all of a sudden when you open the app there is an advertisement. Otherwise this is a nice app, my toddler loves it.

Love it!

I am a Speech-Language Pathologist and love it! I wish it was field of 1-2 as well!

I'm in awe!

I'm shocked this app only has 40 some ratings and 4 stars! 🤯 I've used this app for the last 10 years, with 4 of my own kids and several family members' kids and it's been a life saver as well as a wonderful educational tool! I've watched it morph and become more amazing in that time. They've added more options, titled the animals and objects and changed out sounds, to keep it fun. This is absolutely the one app I've had since first getting a smart phone and I would recommend it over ANY other app for babies, toddlers and kids. 🤟🏽

One piece

WOOHOO UNDERTAAAAAAAAAAAAALE

Why the back arrow?!

This app was perfect...until the back arrow was added to go back to the main screen. My toddler loves this app but isn’t old enough to understand the need to push the arrow to go to a new picture. PLEASE please go back to the version with NO arrow required.

Not just for babies!

My 8 years old son is autistic and nonverbal - he LOVES these Sound Touch apps! We’ve had them on his iPad for years, and he still plays with them regularly. It was simple for him to learn to control - literally with a touch. The repetition of the words paired with pictures is great vocabulary practice for receptive language. Also, having 5 different pictures with the same name helps him generalize things within a category (ex. dogs can be different sizes, shapes, and colors and still be “dogs”). It has helped desensitize him to sounds that used to upset him, like police sirens, elephant trumpeting, and rooster crowing. I have recommended all the Sound Touch apps to therapists and teachers and told them to share with other parents of children with special needs. (And I always show them how to turn on the voiceover in “settings”😉.) Great app...and not just for babies!!

Love it

Edit: thanks to the developer response I finally now can see the names of the animals. I should have checked the settings oops :) My son loves this app and now I will be able to tell him the different bird names, etc. Thanks for the info!

Love this!

I have loved this app for a long time!!! I am a Speech-Language Pathologist and I use it for reinforcement, categories, describing, verbs, etc. Thank you!!! The video and sound are great! Good variety and choice of categories and examples.

Volume

The I pad air has no mute switch and the sound no longer works making this useless!

Too repetitive

The app is limited and repetitive for the money. Should have read the reviews and picked the free app. Lesson learned.

Love it

My 2 year old loves it! My only issue is that on the main page, under the chicken icon, the picture for "chicks" is actually ducklings.

Please remove the snake !!!

Our whole family likes this app but we all fear the snake. It's just creepy. Can you offer the option to remove some unwanted animals?

Crappy

Sound doesn't work with newest update..... Waste of money

Grandchildren love it!!!

This app is great for grandchildren! My 22 month granddaughter is fascinated with it!

Sound touch

I like this app it was very educational my kids they love it too.

My daughter loves this.

This is a very entertaining app for my 20 month old daughter. It also does not have obnoxious ads.

Sound stopped working after an update

I really love this app. My both kids enjoy it big time although the oldest (6) already is switching to different things. Just imagine my disappointment when sound stopped working on my iPad after an update. I tried to turn the sound on in the settings, but it did not work. I have not tried it on my iPhone yet, but still I am very sad that sound does not work on iPad.

I bought this. Now an ad banner?

Low integrity move. We have loved this app for our kids and purchased it, not used the free version. Now it's worthless.

Remove startup ads please

I bought the full version but the update makes it unusable because of the full screen ad with no method to close it. There is literally no way past the ad. Epic fail.

Disappointed.

My daughter loves this app. I never downloaded the free version, but paid for the full version right away. Now with this newest update an advertisement pops up every single time I open the app? Not cool. I pay money so I don't have to see advertising and so my daughter doesn't click through to download, and this is what my purchase gets me?

Fantastic for toddlers

The best iPad app I've found for toddlers. No extraneous buttons. No stupid Facebook sharing buttons (who puts that in a game for toddlers?!). Nice and simple. My son loves it. Great job.

Great app!

My 10 month old loves this app. He can point out the dog and cat sounds on his own. I wish there was a way to know the names of the songs played in the music section, as some of them are really nice. We recently visited family and my 3 yr old nephew and 5 yr old neice were crowding to play it :) Edit: baby is now one year old and still loves this app! Edit: my children finally grew out of this at 4 and 5. Thank you for such amazing apps, they were always my children's favorites and were always high quality and fun.

To lock your ipad use guided access

Great app - 1 suggestion

I love this app for my child. If possible, I'd like to see it add a feature where a kid cannot click out of the app. Thank you!

Love it

Our toddler loves it. For people requesting a parental lock, try googling 'ipad guided access'...it's built in for free.

No tablet support

No excuse these days to add tablet support

Where did all the tiles go?

There used to be 12 options on each page. Now there ate only 4? Not the app I paid for. Quite disappointed.

Cool app, my kid loves it

Like the title says.. Good little app. Decent variety of sounds both animal and mechanical or household. Good for teaching kids about stuff. Keeps our 2 year old happy. Until he hits a button and exits the app. Be really cool if there was a parental lock to prevent this. Seen other apps with that feature. Give it some thought guys :)

12-22months kids will love!

Love this teaches my son all the sounds and words

Worthless for iphone

We had this app for my older daughter on the ipad and LOVED it. My daughter learned so many new words and really enjoyed it. When my second daughter came around we shelled out the $4.99 for the iPhone app, only to learn that it doesn't say the word - only the sound! That's pretty worthless and doesn't teach them much of anything. Waste of money for the iPhone app unless you can figure out how to fix that.

Toddler perfect

My toddler uses this app perfectly

Kids Love it!

This application changes picture and the sound of the picture selected. Is easy to use. The bad part is the baby becomes addicted to the iPhone or iPad and wants to take it from your hand.

Worth the download

I work with children on the autism spectrum. I use this app to teach generalization. Even my typically developmental 18 month old grand-daughter can be distracted and redirected using this app.

Best app for babies

Entertained both of our kids for a long time. They love it!

Best App for 1 year old

My 1 year old daughter loves this app

Best $5 I've ever spent

I'm a speech therapist and I work with low-functioning clients. I'm not crazy about using apps for therapy but this one has so many applications that I use it almost everyday (expressive vocabulary, receptive vocabulary, requesting, intermittent reward, matching...). The kids love it, and I like that each item has several different sounds and pictures. As a therapy tool, it has more than paid for itself.

Ignorant and inaccurate information

I loved this app until the latest update. The information in the primate section is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. It labels chimps, gorillas and orangutans as monkeys and they are NOT monkeys!!!!!! I contacted the creator and after several emails with flimsy excuses by him ("parents complain because those words are too hard to say", but DROMEDARIES and MANY other difficult words are still in there) he did admit that the information was wrong and agreed to fix it. HE DID NOT FIX IT! So not only does this company not care about the information that they put on their 'educative' app, they are liars who only care about making money and do not have pride in their product. Maybe this is just one of the reasons out education system suffers... Because some people take the easy way out and don't care. Please don't support this company and DO NOT BUY THIS APP!!!!

Love it, but...

I would give it a 5th star if you would have a voice say what the item is (i.e. pig, truck, piano).

Call me old school.

When I was a kid, if I wanted to see or hear this many things, I had to visit a museum, a zoo, a safari, and a bird sanctuary! So pleased at how my 16 month old loves to experience all of the categories (especially the cat :) Best baby app I own.

Fun and worthwhile for toddlers

Our girl is about 14 months and just loves this series. It’s a good buy for both the fun and the education. She will walk around with the phone for 30 minutes at a time smiling the whole time. Be sure you have a good cover on your phone and a carpeted area. Also, be sure to set the phone to Guided Access (Settings…accessibility options) or otherwise they will be frustrated if they accidentally wander out of the app.

Happy Mama

This app helped my non-verbal toddler learn a lot! I highly recommend this app for therapist and parents. His therapist loves it too :)

Great app for toddlers

My daughter who is almost 2 loves this app. It is great for kids to help them learn words. They love the pictures of the animals and hearing the sounds. Great learning tool. I wish there were a few more categories and words so that we can keep expanding her vocabulary
