My special needs son loves this app!
My son is hard of hearing and has some vision impairment. He loves to listen to the sounds and look at all of the animals. I was happy to learn the new update now has sight words added to the pictures.
I do think that the color of the words, the greyish background and font style needs to be re-considered for a young person learning to read AS WELL as a child who is visually impaired. The font style needs to be a standard font used in textbooks, a larger size and needs to have a enough contrast between it and its background color to be read. I understand that you didnt want to cover the pictures with the words, but the word box is too visually crowded to be read easliy. If you squint while trying to read it you will see what I mean. The strokes in the font are also too close together. Otherwise I love this app.
***back again! Thank you so much for adjusting the font style! It is so much better now. I also agree with a couple of the therapists who commented about adding a sound identification feature to be used in Audio Visual Therapy. Kids and adults with cochlear implants as well as kids with hearing loss would benefit by having an option to either choose from a few pictures to tell what sound is being played or even just having a way for the voice/text identifier to be delayed to allow for a guess. Good work!
